Our family loves the 320km long Breede river, the name is dutch for wide and with the its source originating in the mountains surrounding Ceres it winds its way down to the sea at Witsand.
Whether it's sipping a cold glass of Chardonnay on a pontoon heading upstream near Robbertson or jumping off the pier into the cool waters of the Breede we are all drawn to the river like a magnet.
This weekend we camped at Kam Bati near Swelendam which is right on the banks of the Breede and had an awesome time with the Wingrove's. Arriving on Saturday at about 11 we set up tent, Gazebo (a must have when camping), our new Cadac gas bottle and was set for 2 days of fun in the sun - sun being the operative word with Sunday reaching temperatures of 34 degrees C!
As per tradition we heard Owls at night, slid on supertubes, canoed to our picnic sight, swam, jumped ,swung into the river, braai'd and had afternoon naps!
What a fantastic weekend, the stuff memories are made of.
