Canton fair 2013

China time again, and here goes number 6 in Hong Kong and surounds - 2 weeks of trains, planes, automibiles, hotels, noodles, walking, working and missing the family like crazy.

Just had lunchie ( cant keep up with all the eating) with Mr Wong Lebang (boss Wong) from Arda factory where we had the feshest vegetables and a first, hot Coke with Ginger drink, it was fantastic and apperantly very good as a flu remedey.

Iteneray goes something like this:

1) fly to Hong Kong via Dubai and Bangkok ( yes we all konow man who walk bakward through swing door going to Bang kok)
2) Got to Hong Kong late because of route so rush to train at airport which goes to Kawloon station, taxi to Hung Kum station which is where the chinese mainland trains depart from. 7:30arrival at station and all tickets to Guanzhou where the fair is are sold out!!! Quickly change some money and take a chance at ticket counter - 1left horray and it iys the last train out of HK at 8pm which arrives in Guanzhou at 10pm.
3) Check in at Sheraton hotel, 11:30. Taxi is cheap, only 42 RMB. Supper at 12pmis a club sandwitch in the room and a coffee. No jet lag as I was told wate is a good preventative measure aginst it so I slicked down 3 l on the plain and went to the loo ambout 7 times, Business class flights also help!
4) 2 days of Audio visual at show. Supper with chinese factory on the banks of the Pearl river, drinking Pearl draught.
5) 2 days of appliances at show with boss which was a first but not bad at all, he is very pro furniture and thinks we dont do much work on 'plugs' trips.
6) Friday was a 1.5hr road trip to Homa appliances- refrigeration. 1.5 hrs back to airport and about 2 hr delay for plane going to Hefei. On arrival temp had dropped 10 degrees and the flew was near, picked it up from Derek.
7) Factory visit to Meiling fridges, lunchi at Brazelean grill, factory visit to Media fridges, Derek leave my tour to rejoin furniture trip.
8) Sunday - full on flu, Chinese medicine, slow 2.5 hr train trip to Xixi to visit Media top loader factory. Rush back on the slow train which only goes 200km per hour. Get to airport inthe nick of time only to find out that someone has messed my ticket up! Standing tickets only so the trip back is on our feet for 2.5 hrs, I have a ticket for the 12!!! Today is the 21st.
9) Find a hotel, stay in Hefei another night at the Holiday inn, which is close to the train station.
10) Early start, grab tickets at station and grab a faster train to HangZhou, this one peeks at 300km an hour. Visit Coflu twin tub factory and find a wonderful new machine, 17kg twin tub which will be ghe biggest in South Africa.
11) Train to JinHau Xi and then 1.5 hr car trip to Arda factory which does sells cooking products.
12) check in and send practically all my clothes for laundry. This is like de ja vu, most of these hotels and areas I have visited 3 times before.
13) Supper with Arda and their people. I just love the english names they choose for them selves, tik, Ben, Ted! Lazy Susan for supper and Tsindou beer. Just love the food here, lots of the freshest vegetables you could ever imagine with small amounts of meat and all fish, that was swimmining around in tanks only a few minutes ago.
14) Wednesday - factory vist and 1.5 hr drive to Arda's second factory which is in the country side, really nice and green here. Lunchie here with the Lebang (boss) cost 280 RMB for 6 people and their was enough food left over to feed another 2 people. The cost of living here is cheap.
15) Thursday - fly back to Guhanzhou for an afternoon meeting with Whangbhou frige company who produced the first fridge in China.
16) Friday - visit 2 factories in Shunda which is a 2hr drive. Supps with Homa, last night - Horray
17) Sat - Factory visit then 2 hr drive to Shenzhen which is about30min from Hong Kong over a bridge then flight at 6:30 to Cape Town via Dubai.
