A mere 320km from our front door sees us arriving at the Garden route game reseve which is a 20000 hecter reseve which houses the big 5. We treated outselves to a day at the reseve on-route to a 1 week holiday at Beacon isle in Pletenberg bay. From the moment we stepped into the thatched roof reception we knew that we were in for a treat and oh did the reseve deliver! We were treated to a sundowner game drive which was bitterley cold and a pre breakfast game drive where we identified; Lion, giraffe, kudu, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Hippo, sun birds, Impala, Wildebees, Springbok, Elephant.
Dinner consisted of a Boofey with so mutch eye popping food that we rolled back to our room having eaten Springbok shank, Kudu, Ostrich, steak, calamari and especially for Talor - lots of crispy roast pototoes.
The next morning after the game drive, egg/bacon/sausage/pancakes and plenty of coffee which helped us thaw out a bit we were treated to a tour of the reseves Reptile park which housed Plenty of slithey crittes and a couple of crocs! Finnaly a tour of the reseve Cheetah park with a very intesesting talk on these facsinating cats. Do you know that the fastest recorded Cheetah clocked 119km and hour, there are only 12000 left in the wild and they can get to 65km and hour in 3 strides, can reach in hundred by the fourth stride but can only run at that speed for 600m as their body heats up too much.
1 day and we feel like we've had a weeks worth of experiances, what a good experiance and the girls first game experiance.
