This year I was determined to not miss Hope's birhday so prolonged departure and left after the party and birthday brunch on the aftenoon of Moday 14 October. I was so good to be there for her birthday and neve want to miss another!
Times are tough so cattle class to Dubai and then East to Hong Kong was the schedule! sequance of events is the same as evey year after landing; Quick march to train, then on to customs to beat the queue {I have no luck in queues and always end up near the back}, grab a small bag {they have shrunk in size ove the years as you tend to pack less and less with the thought of lugging huge suitcasses around China is not that apealing}. Change money and buy train tickets to HK, 25 min journey into town and then grab a taxi destined to Hung hong station which is the depature site for trains going to the mainland! Pick up pre booked tickets (learnt last trip that tickets run out very quickly which could be disatrous) and finally relax have a Starbucks coffee and wait for the train that leaves at 8 for tne 2 hour journey to Guanzhou. Arrival time at the 4 points Sheraton hotel - 11:30pm!
Fair was great and some of the highlights thus far on the trip has been celebrating Berlin`s birthday at the Canton towers which has the tallest obsevation platform in the world at a smidge under 500m and a resturant on floor 108!
Dont forget the best burgers in the world at Shake Shack - Dubai airport
