Knysna Holiday

It was with great joy and exhilaration that we left a cold and dank Cape Town for our annual pilgrimage to the Garden route - which did not disappoint this year.

We have never really stayed in Knysna but rather been drawn to this little piece of heaven like a magnet from our base camp at Pine Lake Marina or Plett so this year we decided to slum it on Thesen island in Knysna. And what a good decision it was: once you were through the boom at the entrance the island felt like your own little haven. The girls could ride their bikes day or night, we had our own little jetty and imaginary 20ft yacht (2 man kayak) and were situated right next to a bridge which led directly to Shirley's favourite coffee shop - Ile de pain and my favourite Pizza joint - Calcachio;s!

11Km mountain bike ride in the forest, Hope's first trophy fish (blow fish), many braai's, lot's of coffee, walks, ferry ride to the Feather bed nature reserve on the other head , sun downers, Ski boat ride to the heads with the sun going down (compliments our next door neighbours son who is starting a Boston Chicken wing business in Cape Town) and 7 day's later we headed home. One day I'm buying a place here!

P.S. Had to have a celebratory bottle of Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir!
P.P.S Check out the resident owl at Ile de pain (island of bread)

Love Knysna!
